Biography

Arcot Somashekar has a BE with First Class in Mechanical Engineering from India, and completed his ME and PhD degrees at the University of Auckland. He has industry experience in India with design of wire and cable-making machinery, as well as sales and marketing. Dr Somashekar has also conducted commercial research into aluminium extrusion in Australia, and worked with and supported CAD and FEA packages in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, he has also taught at Massey University.

Research | Current

Dr Somashekar is currently involved with research in the area of natural fibre composites. He is also keen to further explore the manufacture, processing and properties of microfibrillar polymer composites, and to continue work on investigating the compressive deformation behaviour of glass fibre reinforcements.
